Although they did not receive an automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA regionals, Dowling was awarded with the No. 5 seed in the East region.
The Golden Lions (33-15) will face Franklin Pierce (35-16) in the first-round of the tournament, which will be held at Southern New Hampshire campus.
The two teams split their season series, two games a piece. Franklin Pierce outscored them by a total of five runs in four games. Needless to say, the teams are fairly evenly matched.
Dowling does have a pitching staff that can compete with anyone in the country, and their No. 5 seed has no impact at this level of the season.
The game will be played on Thursday, and the tournament will run through Sunday.
