Long Island native and Adelphi graduate Keith Couch recorded the six-out save in yesterday’s matinee matchup against the Mets.

Couch fired two shutout innings with two strikeouts. The play-by-play went as follows

Bottom 8

  • Danny Muno singles to CF
  • Brandon Allen grounds into 6-6-3 DP
  • Kirk Nieuwenhuis singles to RF
  • Anthony Recker strikes out swinging

Bottom 9

  • Gavin Cecchini grounds out 6-3
  • Johnny Monell pops out to 3b.
  • Wilfredo Tovar strikes out swinging.

Most impressively, he threw all strikes. Couch is right on the verge of a big league promotion. He compiled a 2.78 ERA last season over 106.2 innings with a 1.22 WHIP.

Keep an eye on Couch’s progress this year with the Pawtucket Sox as he chases his dream to play with the big league club.
