An amazing afternoon for baseball on the island as these teams took the field. Check out who kept the momentum going and who is playing out the string:
Division-I:
Hofstra: John Rooney loses his first game of the season as Hofstra falls to Northeastern, 5-1. In what you consider a down start for Rooney, he still managed to go seven innings, giving up just two runs and seven hits while striking out seven. It took until the sixth inning for either team to score, with Northeastern third baseman Ryan Solomon uncorking a homerun to break open the game. Hofstra managed eight hits on the afternoon, three of them coming from DH Vito Friscia, including his sixth homer. The Pride are now 10-9 in CAA play and 21-17 overall for the season.
Stony Brook: Stony Brook pounded out 12 hits and nine runs in their 9-1 victory over Bryant. Chris Hamilton, Dylan Resk, and Michael Wilson accounted for nine hits, five RBI and six runs for the Sea Wolves. Greg Marino improves to 4-1 on the season with a seven inning, five strikeout performance. Stony Brook did all of its damage after the fifth inning, scoring two in the fifth, four in the seventh and three in the eighth.
Fordham: Fordham fell to Dayton, 4-1. A Connor Echols three-run shot in the seventh inning proved to be the difference in the win for the Flyers. Fordham managed just three hits on the afternoon, while they struckout 12 times as well. Austin Cline was clinical for the Flyers, throwing a complete game, one-run, three-hit gem to lock up his third win of the season.
St. Johns: St. Johns demolished Liberty 12-0. John Valente, Josh Shaw, and Jamie Galazin accounted for six hits, six runs, and three RBI at the top of the lineup for the Red Storm. St. John’s had 16 hits on the afternoon. Starter Sean Mooney was lights-out in his six innings, giving up just three hits.

Division-II:
Molloy: Molloy improved to 27-19 on the season with a 6-2 victory over Pace. A Sean Hogan three-run double in the fourth inning increased Molloy’s lead to 4-0. From then on they cruised, with starter Kevin Hiss going five innings, giving up no runs and giving up two hits. Angelo Navatta continued his hot season, knocking two hits on the afternoon. Second baseman Jack McCarty went 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Pace: Pace fell to Molloy, 6-2. It took the Setters till the ninth inning to finally score their first runs of the ball game. Although Molloy starter Kevin Hiss gave up six walks, Pace could not find a way to bring anyone home. In total they had six hits, with no player getting more than one. Starter Ryan Aquino struggled on the afternoon, giving up six runs and seven hits over six innings. Pace now sits at 16-19-1 on the year.
Queens: Queens early runs help push them past NYIT, 5-2. Starter Michael Lamneck earned his third win of the season by going nine innings, giving up two runs, five hits and striking out 11. The Knights needed only five hits to get them by the Bears, with two of them coming from third baseman Luis Antos. Queens’ seven walks helped fuel the offense in a slow day for the bats.
NYIT: NYIT’s bats fall asleep as they lose to Queens, 5-2. The Bears recorded only five hits on the afternoon to go along with striking out 11 times. Jake Lebel continued his hot tear, going 2-for-3. The lone two runs came of the bat of Dominic Paolo, who singled through the right side in the seventh to break up the zero on the scoreboard.
LIU Post: St. Thomas Aquinas three-run sixth and seventh inning helps power them past LIU Post 7-5. The Pioneers pounded out 11 hits in total, with four players having multiple. Right fielder David Rehm accounted for three of the teams runs and two hits. Ace James Valera finally lost his first game of the season, giving up six runs and nine hits over 6.1 innings.
Adelphi: After 15 innings, the game between Adelphi and New Haven was called due to darkness and set to be rescheduled for tomorrow as part of a double header. Lucas Terwilliger, Lawrence Cicileo, and Brandon Morse accounted for seven of Adelphi’s hits. Two walks helped Steven Willers score the game tying run in the ninth, sending the game into extras.
