The Farmingdale Greendogs are an impressive unit. Every time I watch them, they have a habit of either winning via run-rule or walk-off. Today it was the former.

The 12U team won by a score of 15-0 over the East Coast Cannons during the Labor Day Bash hosted by East Coast Youth Baseball. Most impressively, they hit the 15-run mark with one out in the third so there was no indication they were done scoring. They did most of their damage during the third inning, where they came to the plate with a modest 3-0 lead. But let’s back track a bit.

They sent James Sebber to the mound who, in my estimation, has to be one of the top 12u players around. He contributed on both sides of the ball today. He worked around a lead off single in the first inning to throw up a zero.

The Greendogs went to bat in the bottom of the first and quickly got on the board. Sebber led off with a single, advanced on Andrew Dillon’s single and they both scored on Colin Horowitz’s RBI single to make it 2-0.

While that was all Sebber needed, they continued to pile on.

They added one run in the second inning on a double steal in which McIntyre scored on the back end. Cannon’s starter avoided further damage.

After Sebber posted another goose egg in the top of the third, that’s when the route back.

Innocently enough, the inning began on fly out to right field. Sebber started the merry-go-round with a double to left field over the left fielder’s head. He scored on Andrew Dillon’s RBI single, who scored on Elijah Sierra’s double to center. After three consecutive walks, the lead became 6-0 and the Cannons called on Max Garibaldi in relief. He allowed a bases clearing triple to Chris McIntyre which broke the game open at 9-0. They continued to pile on, with RBI hits from Chris Ruotolo, Kyle Dunn, Justin Hills and a two-run hit by Sebber. The walk-off run scored on a double off the bat of Dillon.

The Greendogs will be back in action at 3:15 today. Although they are a town team, they compete like one of the top elite travel organizations around and it’s quite impressive to watch.
