Recap of the 17x Sports x Axcess Baseball College Showcase

Our seventh annual College Showcase is in the books. It was held on Monday, January 20 at Max Effort Baseball in Farmingdale, NY. The turnout was great – roughly 20 colleges and 65 players were in attendance.

All players had the opportunity to meet and speak with the college coaches of their choice during our interactive session.

The talent was plentiful as many of the top uncommitted seniors on Long Island were in attendance.

There were several impact players. Here’s a few that caught my eye:

John Harkins, Babylon 2025

Harkins was not on the market for much longer after the showcase as he has since committed to Queens. He was the best performer in attendance – with a 4.6 40-yard dash, 90 MPH throw across the infield and a 98 MPH exit velocity. He has been a starter on Babylon’s last two County Championship teams. A true impact player and should be a contributor at the next level.

Ryan Palm, Sachem North 2025

Palm was a big reason that Sachem North had their best season in over a decade in 2024. He was lights-out and even shut down Commack’s high-powered offense in Game 2 of the County Championship. He is a bulldog on the mound, is not afraid to attack with his fastball and he has the command of his off speed pitches to put away any hitter. Mainly works in the 83-85 MPH range. I believe he can be a Division-II starting pitcher or high-leverage reliever.

Daniel Lynn, New Hyde Park 2026

Lynn has outstanding mechanics that allows him to make the most of his body. He commanded the ball to all quadrants of the strike zone. He should be dominant at the varsity level.

Matthew Kurz, Clarke 2026

Kurz excelled in all aspects of the event, showing an extremely strong arm during the outfield drills and really handles the bat well. Similar to most players coached by Tom Abruscato at Clarke, he is a hard-noses player.

Sean Gaine, Smithtown East 2027

Gaine was one of the youngest players in attendance but also one of the best. He has great size already, and will hold his own at the varsity level as a sophomore and should be a true impact player after that. He is very athletic , with clean mechanics on the mound. He has Division-I upside.

Nico Milani, West Babylon 2026

Milani stood out on the mound and at the plate, as he had one of the highest exit velocities and hardest fastballs. He should be a true difference maker for the West Babylon Eagles this season.

Brayden Davis, Pat-Med 2026

Davis has great size, which is very rare to see behind the dish. He has the best pop time of the event. He should be one of the better defensive players in the county this season.

Christian Eliane, Syosset 2026

It was my first time seeing Eliane. He was very impressive both at the plate and on the mound. Had one of the best velocities in attendance. Really liked his mechanics. Should be a difference maker for Syosset this year.
