Throughout the game, the only strung together six hits and suffered four errors defensively. In game two of the series, Hofstra bounced back as they won 6-4. This win was highlighted by their pitching. Ryan Rue earned his third win of the year, as he threw six shutout innings allowing just five hits. Andrew Mundy got the three inning save in relief. Hofstra now stands at 14-28 on the year. They play LIU Brooklyn on Tuesday.

In two one-run games, Fordham had a highly stressful Saturday of baseball. In game one of their double header, they fell 2-1 to George Mason. After scoring two runs in the first inning of the game, their bats went silent. George Mason tied it up at 2-2 in the 1st inning, but would take the lead in the bottom of the 8th. Fordham was unable to comeback in the 9th. In game two, Fordham won 2-1. This win was highlighted by Anthony Dimeglio, as he threw seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits. Kyle Martin picked up the two inning save in relief, his eighth of the season. Fordham plays La Salle next Friday.

In a tightly contested double header, Stony Brook split both games with Maine. In game one, they lost 4-3. Leading 3-1 heading into the bottom of the 6th, the Stony Brook bullpen was unable to hold the lead. After giving up the lead, their bats couldn’t recover as Maine took the lead in the 8th. They didn’t look back from there. In game two, Stony Brook was able to get revenge as they won 5-3. With the victory, Bret Clarke improves his record to 7-0 as a starter. He went 5.2 innings allowing one earned run on four hits. At the plate, Chris Hamilton was the difference maker as he launched a three-run homer in the third inning. They play Maine again today at noon.

St. John’s was among the teams that split their double headers on Saturday, as they did the same with Princeton. Game one of the double header featured a 3-1 loss. Although St. John’s has eight hits, they were only able to score one run. In game two, they won 4-2. With just enough run support for the pitching staff, they got the job done. Jeff Belge picked up the win in relief and Gavin Hollowell earned the save. They play Wagner on Tuesday.

Division-II:

LIU Post stayed hot as they swept Queens in a double header. In game one, they triumphed to a 6-2 victory. Noah Lorenzo picked up his eight win of the year as he went 7.2 innings allowing two earned runs. Anthony Vaglica led the offense with two RBI and Jimmy Mendyk went 2-3. In game two, they shut Queens out 2-0. Joshua Loeschorn continued his stellar season on the mound, as he pulled off a complete game two-hit shutout, improving his record to 9-0 on the year. LIU Post plays Queens again today with a chance to finish the year at 34-13.

Molloy pulled off the two-game sweep at the hands of Mercy on Saturday afternoon. In game one, they cruised to a 7-3 victory. At the plate, they were great with runners in scoring position as they scored seven runs on ten hits. On the mound, Minucci picked up the win. He went seven innings allowing two earned runs and five hits. In game two, the Lions stayed hot as they beat Mercy 3-1. Once again, the Molloy pitching staff showed some life in the late innings. However, this win came a little different. In the top of the 13th inning, Molloy scored two runs and never looked back from there. Murphy picked up the nine-inning outing in relief, allowing five hits and no earned runs. With momentum on their side, they play Mercy again today.

NYIT cruised to a double header sweep on Saturday as they dominated STAC in both games. In game one, they pulled out a 7-5 victory. All tied up after nine, NYIT took the lead in the top of the 10th inning. They would close it out in the bottom half. Matt DeAngilis gave NYIT the lead on a sacrifice fly, and Kieran Dowd scored on a wild pitch. In game two, NYIT cruised to a 12-1 victory. Evidently, the bats were hot in this one as they strung together 17 hits and scored 12 runs. Five different NYIT players had 2RBI games. Chris Keenan earned his first victory of the year on the mound, as he tossed six innings allowing one earned run on three hits.
