The Hofstra Pride improved to 3-4 on the season after defeating Penn State two of three this weekend in North Carolina.
In Game One, Nick Kozlowski and Brett Schreiber combined on a shutout. Kozlowski started and tossed the first 5.1 with three strikeouts and Schreiber finished and compiled six strikeouts. Kenny Jackson led the offense with two home runs, while driving in four runs.
The Pride won the next game 5-2. David Jesch won his second game of the season, with seven strong innings. Nobody compiled a multi-hit or multi-RBI game, but a three-run first inning was the difference. Brian MacDonald, Kenny Jackson, Matt Ford and John Taurinsky accounted for the RBIs.
The Nittany Lions salvaged the final game with a 10-4 loss. It took the Pride eight pitchers to escape the game, with starter Alec Eisenberg suffering the loss. Kenny Jackson and Matt Ford both had two RBIs and Brian MacDonald had three RBIs.
The Pride will continue their tour of the nation this weekend in San Antonio. This will be their third time zone of the season.
